Tattoo Culture
Tattooing was popular in Iran historically. Men wore tattoos only as protective amulets or tribal signifiers and women wore facial tattoos for beauty only. This culture has increased in Iran in last few years.
Most Iranian who has tattoos today, do it for the same reason Europeans do it. They just want art on their body. Iranian men have tattoos that illustrate their strength and masculinity. Tattoos are mostly images, but some verses are also popular. |
Getting new tattoos in Iran became illegal, because of religious reasons mostly. Republic of Iran announced that tattooing is health risk and also forbidden by the Quran. In the past tattooing never was illegal, but Iranian authorities used mostly islamic law to denounced it. People with so called “illegal” tattoos have been arrested by religious police.
And now to sum it all up!
